The origin of the words "Bashkort" and "Buryan"

One man got lost in a forest thicket and he came across a pack of wolves. Wolves did not touch him. And the man did not want to leave them: there was nowhett a soul to be found, where could he go? So they started to live together - five wolves and a man. Some time later wolves brought a woman from somewhere. Man and woman began to Jive together. They had children and the number of them increased. In adulthood they began to leave for different places. Idris went to one place, Kolsora - to another, all the rest weal wherever they liked. Allegedly the names of Buryan villages come from the names of these children. Since that time this land has got its name "ber yen", which means "one soul", and the kin, which gradually increased, became Bashkorts. The word "bashkort" means "leader-wolf"; "bish kort"("five wolves") eventually turned into "five wolves".
